Course Aims/Objectives

  • Integrate latest research, theory and best practice to further inform healthcare professionals about the benefits of using electrical stimulation.

  • Provide practitioners with the knowledge of physiology of nerve stimulation and impact on muscle contraction and function

  • To introduce the use of electrical stimulation using a variety of settings and devices to optimize muscle contraction for function

  • To review upper limb anatomy and peripheral nerve function to ensure accurate electrode placement

  • To practice practical use and application of ES including clinical reasoning for use in particular patient populations

  • Discuss organisational issues and skills required for delivering and using ES in clinical practice
