Course Aims/Objectives

  • Identify the components of normal upper limb functions (physical, sensory, cognitive, social and psychological)

  • Enabling the therapist to confidently carry out an upper limb assessment

  • Gaining an understanding of the problems associated with neurological damage of the upper limb

  • Examine the evidence base for the occupational therapy in the assessment and treatment of neurological disorders of the upper limb

  • Presenting a goal orientated treatment plan

  • Enable the occupational therapist to facilitate function of the upper limb during purposeful activity
